The son of Nigeria’s late former president, Muhammad Buhari, Yusuf, has declared his intention to contest for the post of House of Representatives in the 2027 general election.
Former presidential aide, Bahir Ahmad, disclosed this in a statement on his X account on Monday. According to him, Yusuf’s decision to run for the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’Adua Katsina State federal constituency under the All Progressives Congress comes after due consultation.
“Following wide consultations, Yusuf Buhari, the son of our late boss, President Muhammadu Buhari, has informed stakeholders of his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat for the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’Adua constituency under the All Progressives Congress,” Ahmad wrote on X.
DAILY reports that Yusuf’s father ruled Nigeria as president from 2015 to 2023, before his death on July 13, 2025.
