Ooni Honors First Lady Tinubu with Golden Statue and Commemorative Pavilion

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, unveiled a golden statue in honor of First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu on Thursday.

The ceremony also marked the inauguration of the 2.7-kilometer Senator Oluremi Tinubu Way and a grand pavilion monument on the campus of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), both donated by the Ooni and named after the First Lady.

In his address, Oba Ogunwusi lauded Senator Tinubu for her exemplary leadership and commitment to education, women’s empowerment, and national unity. He stated, “This golden statue is erected to immortalize her virtuous character and to exemplify the strength of a teacher, mother, and wife at the core of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.”

He further noted that the largest hostel and pavilion in OAU’s history, which bears her name, symbolizes her dedication to creating environments for learning, development, and empowerment for all.

Senator Tinubu, an alumna of OAU, received her Bachelor of Science in Education from the university, formerly known as the University of Ife. During the event, she also announced a pledge of N1 billion to support the university’s horticultural landscaping initiative.
