Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has revealed his deep admiration for Cristiano Ronaldo, hailing the Portuguese superstar’s dedication and work ethic throughout his career.
In an interview with Liverpool’s official YouTube channel, Salah reflected on the players who influenced him during his formative years, naming Ronaldo, alongside other footballing icons, as his role models.
“I’ve always admired the way Ronaldo (of Brazil) played, as well as Zinedine Zidane and Francesco Totti,” Salah began. “These players were my inspiration; they had this incredible passion for the game that made watching them special.”
Salah, who has consistently been one of Liverpool’s standout players, spoke further about Cristiano Ronaldo, emphasizing the Al Nassr forward’s extraordinary discipline and commitment to football.
“When I started playing in Europe, Cristiano became a big inspiration. The way he dedicates himself to football is unbelievable. He takes care of every detail, from his fitness to his preparation, and the numbers he’s achieved reflect that. It’s something I deeply respect,” he said.
The Egyptian international also shared a personal milestone in his career — playing alongside his childhood hero, Francesco Totti, during his time at AS Roma. Salah described the two years he spent with the Italian legend as an unforgettable experience.
“I had the chance to play with Totti for two years at Roma, and it was amazing. His technique and understanding of the game were on another level. Beyond his skills, he’s also a fantastic person. Those moments meant so much to me,” Salah added.
Salah’s comments underscore the enduring influence of football legends on the new generation of players, as he continues to cement his own legacy in the sport. His acknowledgment of Ronaldo, Totti, and others highlights the global and timeless nature of football’s appeal, where inspiration transcends generations.
