Abuja, Nigeria — The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has strengthened its collaboration with the US Embassy to address human trafficking cases involving American citizens in Nigeria.
This was revealed during a courtesy visit by a delegation from the US Embassy’s American Citizens Services, led by Tom Finken, to NAPTIP’s headquarters. The meeting focused on joint efforts and strategies to combat human trafficking.
Strengthening Collaboration
According to a statement shared on NAPTIP’s verified X handle, the delegation reaffirmed the US Embassy’s commitment to partnering with NAPTIP in tackling human trafficking.
The Director General of NAPTIP, *Binta Adamu Bello*, highlighted the agency’s mandate and pledged its dedication to ensuring justice for victims of trafficking.
Bello emphasized that NAPTIP’s mission includes criminalizing practices that subject individuals to various forms of exploitation, including sexual and labor exploitation.
“Our mandate is clear: to eradicate all forms of human trafficking and exploitation. We remain steadfast in our mission to protect victims and bring perpetrators to justice,” Bello stated during the strategic meeting.
This collaboration marks another step toward strengthening international partnerships in the fight against human trafficking in Nigeria.
