1 min read

The Labour Party (LP), under the leadership of Senator Nenadi Usman, held its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on Tuesday in Abuja, as a strategic move to reorganise its internal structure ahead of the 2027 general elections. The high-level meeting attracted major stakeholders of the party, including the Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, and his deputy, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, and top party leaders from across the country.

A party source told Daily Post the moves are intended to “reposition the Labour Party for a stronger political showing in 2027.”

Key Figures In Attendance

Also present at the NEC was Comrade Joe Ajaero, President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), signalling labour’s continued interest in the political direction of the party.

Naija News reports that while Chief Sylvester Ejiofor, Chairman of the Labour Party’s Board of Trustees (BoT), was not physically present, he was represented by a delegate at the meeting.

Tuesday’s NEC meeting is seen as a crucial moment for the Labour Party, especially after months of internal crises and leadership disputes that have threatened its structure.
