Minister Idris: Tinubu’s Cabinet Has Over 60 Northerners

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has revealed that over 60 northerners have been appointed to key positions under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

Speaking during a live Hausa-language phone-in programme, “Hannu Da Yawa” on Radio Nigeria Kaduna, Idris stated that President Tinubu has honoured his pre-election promises to Northern Nigeria. These promises, made during an engagement with leaders at the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation, focused on tackling insecurity, improving education, and revamping agriculture in the region.

“Let it be known that when he won the election, Tinubu kept his promises to the North,” Idris said.

Among the key northern appointees are the Minister of Defence, National Security Adviser, Chief of Defence Staff, and Ministers of Agriculture, Health, Women Affairs, and Arts and Culture.

Idris dismissed claims that the North has been neglected under the current government, describing such narratives as misinformation. He stressed that the administration is still in its early phase, with more initiatives on the way.

“This is two years into his administration… remarkable achievements are already touching not only the North but the entire country,” he added.

The Minister assured that his ministry would intensify public enlightenment efforts to highlight the administration’s achievements, especially in the North.
