Nigeria international Ademola Lookman has formally submitted a transfer request to Atalanta, as he attempts to force through a move to join Cristian Chivu’s Inter.
The Nigerian forward is desperate to join Inter Milan and has done this to force his side to sell him to their Italian rivals.
This comes after Atalanta had rejected Inter’s opening offer to sign Lookman in the summer window.
The Nerazzurri had reportedly offered around €45m (including add-ons) for Lookman, but that didn’t match Atalanta’s valuation.
The African Player of Year took to his social media to announce a formal request to negotiate out his contract with the Italian side.
“There have been numerous clubs approach Atalanta in the past and I have previously always stayed loyal. However, myself and the ownership of the club have been in agreement that now is the right time and the club were clear with me that if a fair offer came in they would allow me to move.
Despite now receiving an offer in alignment to what I believe had been discussed sadly the club are blocking the opportunity for reasons I do not understand.
As a result and after many months of broken promises and what I feel has been poor treatment towards me as both a human being and as a professional footballer, sadly I feel I have no choice but to speak out for what I believe is right and I feel that enough is enough.
I can confirm I have now handed in a formal transfer request.”
Lookman scored 20 goals and provided seven assists in all competitions for his side last season.
Since joining the Italian outfit in 2022 from RB Leipzig, the Nigerian has made 118 appearances scoring 52 goals and providing 25 assists.
Ademola Lookman is eager to leave Atalanta for a new challenge despite having a contract until June 2027. The Nigerian international’s desire to depart stems from his ambition to play in a bigger European team and potentially add more laurels to his trophy cabinet.
