Gombe, Nigeria — Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Yahaya has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to security by donating 50 operational vehicles to security agencies to enhance law enforcement and public safety.
The announcement was made at the second Gombe State Security Summit, held on Wednesday at the International Conference Centre, Gombe. The summit, themed “Building a Safer and More Secure Gombe State: Addressing Insecurity Through Collective Action,” brought together key stakeholders to discuss strategies for tackling security challenges in the state and the broader North-East region.
Governor Yahaya, speaking on the significance of the initiative, stressed the need for synergy among security forces and various societal sectors.
“To effectively combat insecurity, we must adopt a collaborative approach that involves security agencies, traditional and community leaders, religious organizations, civil society, the media, and the private sector,” he stated.
Acknowledging the governor’s proactive stance, Maj. Gen. Folusho Oyinola, General Officer Commanding 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, commended Gombe’s security advancements, describing the state as “one of the most peaceful in Nigeria.”
The summit also featured expert insights from Gen. Abdulrasheed Aliyu (rtd) and AIG Zubairu Mu’azu (rtd), who emphasized the role of technology, intelligence gathering, and community policing in strengthening local security frameworks.
Governor Yahaya reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to security, emphasizing that sustainable development is only possible in a stable and secure environment.
