The All Progressives Congress (APC) won 20 out of the 23 local government areas in the Rivers State Local Government elections held on Saturday, 30 August.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won in three local government areas. Chairman of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, Dr. Michael Odey, announced the winners of the local government election at the commission’s headquarters in Port Harcourt on Sunday.
The APC also won councillorship polls in 20 of the 23 LGAs, while the PDP won three councillorship seats. Certificates of return will be presented to all the winners on Monday, 1 September.
