Nigerian youths have staged protests nationwide, accusing the Corporate Affairs Commission of misconduct and unlawful actions against the National Youth Council of Nigeria.

The demonstration followed the withdrawal of the Council’s certificate by the Registrar General of CAC, Hussaini Magaji a move protesters described as illegal and politically motivated.

Over 3,000 youths took to the streets, alleging that the Registrar General acted without legal authority and accepted bribes to sabotage the Council’s operations, leading to its removal from the CAC portal.

Protesters further accused Magaji of working against President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and demanded his immediate removal from office. They vowed to sustain peaceful demonstrations across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory for the next 30 days.

According to the protesters, their action aims to end what they termed “impunity and lawlessness” within the Commission, alleging that key appointments in CAC are being made without due process.

They also referenced a pending lawsuit at the Court of Appeal and a Federal High Court decision that confirmed that the CAC lacks the competence to delist the National Youth Council of Nigeria.

The group charged the Registrar General with violating professional and legal standards, asserting that these actions jeopardize the rule of law and require immediate attention.

They called on the Federal Government to intervene immediately to restore order, uphold judicial decisions, and protect the legitimacy of the National Youth Council of Nigeria.
