The Aqaba Process, launched in 2015 by Jordan’s King Abdullah II and co-chaired by Jordan and Italy, is a counter-terrorism initiative aimed at strengthening international cooperation against terrorism, particularly in vulnerable regions.

The Rome meeting will examine the security situation in West Africa, including the spread of terrorist networks, the nexus between crime and terrorism, and maritime security challenges such as piracy in the Gulf of Guinea.

In addition to plenary sessions, President Tinubu is expected to hold bilateral talks with other leaders to coordinate strategies on regional security threats.
