Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has demanded accountability from military authorities over the withdrawal of security personnel from Government Girls’ Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, just hours before dozens of students were abducted in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area. The governor expressed serious concern that the withdrawal occurred despite earlier intelligence reports shared with security agencies.
While receiving Nigeria Labour Congress President, Joe Ajaero, on a solidarity visit, Idris said soldiers reportedly vacated the school around 3am, with the attackers arriving less than an hour later. He questioned who authorized the withdrawal and called for a thorough military investigation, stressing that the incident contradicts previous assurances of strengthened protection for vulnerable schools in border communities.
Ajaero pledged support to the state and the affected families while urging federal security agencies to act swiftly to secure the release of the abducted students.
