The founder of Kingsways International Christian Centre (KICC), Matthew Ashimolowo, has urged Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu’s efforts to tackle insecurity across the country.

Ashimolowo made the appeal on Thursday during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, where he said the administration is committed to improving national security.

He noted that the president’s recent moves show a renewed determination to confront the nation’s security challenges.

He said, “Nigeria needs a turn around. Let’s stand behind our president now that he has called for more policing, more soldiers.”

The cleric added that it was time for citizens to unite behind efforts aimed at restoring peace and strengthening national identity.

“Let’s raise the security level, make our people proud to be Nigerians, let’s tap into the brain of our nation and also recognize global Africa,” he said on the program.

“Every African nation wants to be Nigerians. They are so proud of us, Nigerians. We are the toughest, strongest, boldest, and fearless. This is the nation we are and I believe we have a leadership that wants to make things work, let’s support and be behind him [Tinubu].”

The cleric also called for the involvement of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members in boosting nationwide security awareness.

Speaking during the interview, he said expanding the country’s security network must include young people serving in local communities.

He said the participation of corps members would help improve early detection of potential threats.

“All our NYSC guys, community service – we should train all of them to be aware. They see somebody just smoking hemp, not even committing any crime as yet. Then the security level will increase.”
