Remi Tinubu Urges Stronger National Effort to End HIV/AIDS by 2030

1 min read

The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called for renewed national commitment to eliminating HIV/AIDS in Nigeria by the year 2030. She made the appeal in a message shared on her X handle to mark World AIDS Day 2025, themed “Overcoming Disruptions; Transforming the AIDS Response.”

Mrs Tinubu noted that while Nigeria has recorded notable progress in HIV prevention, treatment and care, continued effort is needed to fully eradicate the disease. She stressed that access to life-saving services must be free from stigma and discrimination.

She also encouraged young people to take charge of their health by knowing their HIV status and seeking treatment early if required.

World AIDS Day is observed globally on December 1 every year to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS, support people living with the virus, and remember those who have died from AIDS-related illnesses.
