The Christian Association of Nigeria says it has not yet received official confirmation on the reported release of 100 abducted students from Agwara in Niger State but described the development as potentially uplifting. The clarification came from the Niger State CAN Chairman, Bishop Bulus Yohanne, in a statement issued through his media aide, Daniel Atori, on Sunday.
Bishop Yohanne, who is also the proprietor of St. Mary Private Catholic Primary and Secondary Schools in Papiri, Agwara Local Government Area, urged the public to treat the reports with cautious optimism until verified by the appropriate authorities. He noted that the situation remains sensitive and that families are still anxiously awaiting concrete updates.
He added that it would be “a thing of joy” if the information turns out to be true, saying Christians across the state have been praying earnestly for the safe return of the children. According to him, any confirmed release would be a welcome answer to months of collective prayers.
