The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, has confirmed that Nigerian soldiers recently released by authorities in Burkina Faso have arrived safely at an Air Force base in Accra, Ghana. Tuggar disclosed the development in a post on X on Friday evening.
According to the minister, the personnel arrived aboard a Nigerian Air Force aircraft. He said the successful release and transfer of the soldiers highlighted Nigeria’s commitment to diplomacy in resolving delicate regional and security-related matters.
The Nigerian Air Force also assured that the soldiers and crew were safe throughout their detention and were treated courteously by Burkina Faso authorities. It added that the precautionary landing that led to the incident was conducted in line with standard safety procedures and international aviation protocols.
