FG Confirms Security Cooperation With US, Others to Tackle Terrorism

The Federal Government has confirmed that Nigeria remains engaged in structured security cooperation with international partners, including the United States, to address the persistent threat of terrorism and violent extremism.

In a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the government said the collaboration involves intelligence sharing, strategic coordination and other forms of support in line with international law, mutual respect for sovereignty and shared commitments to regional and global security. It noted that the cooperation has contributed to precision air strikes on terrorist targets in the North-West.

The ministry stressed that all counter-terrorism efforts prioritise the protection of civilian lives, national unity and the rights of all citizens, adding that terrorist violence against any group remains an affront to Nigeria’s values and international peace. It assured that engagement with partners will continue through established diplomatic and security channels, with the public updated via official platforms.
