Kanu’s Lawyer Seeks Transfer from Sokoto After US Air Strikes

1 min read

Aloy Ejimakor, counsel to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has called for his client’s transfer from Sokoto State following recent United States air strikes on terrorist targets in the area.

The United States carried out air strikes on ISIS-linked terrorists in Jabo village, Sokoto, with President Donald Trump describing the operation as “powerful and deadly.” The US Africa Command (AFRICOM) said the strikes were conducted at the request of Nigerian authorities.

Reacting in a post on X, Ejimakor argued that the development confirms Sokoto is unsafe, insisting that Kanu should be moved out of the state on security grounds. He said the presence of terrorists makes Sokoto an unsuitable place of detention and urged authorities to transfer Kanu from what he described as a “terrorist belt” in northern Nigeria.
