Kwara Deploys 1,000 Forest Guards to Tackle Terrorism and Kidnapping

1 min read

About 1,000 forest guards have passed out in Kwara State and are set for full deployment to curb the activities of terrorists, kidnappers, illegal miners and other criminal elements operating within forested areas of the state.

Speaking at the passing out parade on Saturday, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq described the initiative as a game changer, warning that criminals now have the option of either fleeing the state or facing severe consequences. He said the deployment would significantly enhance security and reclaim forest spaces from criminal occupation.

The governor commended President Bola Tinubu for what he described as “out-of-the-box thinking” in reclaiming Nigeria’s forests and strengthening public safety. AbdulRazaq also praised the commitment of security agencies, noting that synergy between conventional forces and the newly trained auxiliary guards, drawn from local communities, would boost the fight against terrorism and kidnapping.
