The Nigeria Police Force has advised Nigerians not to struggle or fight back if they find themselves in a dangerous situation involving criminals, urging citizens to prioritise their safety above all else.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Mr Benjamin Hundeyin, gave the advice on Tuesday while speaking during an interview on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television.
Hundeyin said members of the public should remain calm in such situations, stressing that preserving one’s life is more important than confronting armed or violent criminals.
Hundeyin said, “In the unfortunate event that you find yourself among criminals, do not struggle, do not fight, just stay calm and save your life first. We can always go after these criminals to have them arrested.
The police spokesperson also disclosed that the Force has recorded progress in tackling criminal syndicates, including the notorious ‘One-Chance’ gangs operating in parts of Abuja.
According to him, recent arrests have been made in connection with the activities of the group, including suspects linked to the murder of a lawyer in the Federal Capital Territory.
And also, we’ve achieved a lot in the area of arrests of this One-Chance syndicate. Just recently, a few days ago, we arrested the gang behind the murder of that lawyer, and the phone has been recovered.”
