The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Tuesday commissioned its newly built Oyo State Secretariat in Ibadan. The party’s National Chairman, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, commissioned the secretariat.

The secretariat, constructed and fully furnished by Governor Seyi Makinde, features offices and meeting rooms designed to support party administration and activities in the state.

The facility was also donated by Governor Makinde. Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Turaki described the building as “qualitatively finished and adequately furnished,” commending the governor for what he called a strong show of commitment to the party.

He urged other PDP governors to emulate Makinde’s gesture in strengthening party structures. The PDP chairman also expressed appreciation to party members nationwide for their loyalty despite what he termed “unnecessary distractions” arising from recent court judgments.

He assured supporters that the party would emerge stronger from its current challenges. In his remarks, Governor Makinde reaffirmed his loyalty to the PDP and pledged continued support for the party.

He also expressed confidence in the current national leadership under Turaki’s chairmanship. The event was attended by former Kano State Governor, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, alongside other members of the PDP National Working Committee.

The commissioning underscores ongoing efforts by the party to consolidate its structures at the state level amid internal and external political pressures.
