Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Kwara State for an onward visit to Woro village in Kaiama LGA of the State over the attacks on the community.
This was contained in a statement by the VP’s spokesman, Stanley Nkwocha, on Saturday. His visit followed a direct mandate from President Bola Tinubu to assess the situation first-hand and extend the federal government’s condolences to grieving families.
Recall that more than 100 people were killed in the community in what authorities described as an attack by suspected jihadist fighters. President Tinubu had on Wednesday ordered the deployment of an army battalion to the area.
He also approved the establishment of a new military command to lead Operation Savannah Shield, aimed at countering terrorist activity and protecting vulnerable communities.
