Osun: Police release N13.5m welfare support to families of fallen officers

The Nigeria Police Force has released N13.53 million in financial assistance to the families of police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty in Osun State.
The cheques, totalling N13,531,081.10, were presented to the beneficiaries by the Osun State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Zungura, at the Command Headquarters in Osogbo on Friday evening.
The intervention was part of the welfare measures of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, aimed at providing assistance to the next of kin of police personnel who died while serving the country.
Presenting the cheques, Zungura commiserated with the bereaved families and acknowledged the sacrifices made by the deceased officers in the discharge of their responsibilities.
He said the financial assistance was intended to provide some relief to the families, particularly as many of the deceased officers were responsible for the welfare and upkeep of their dependants.
The commissioner urged the beneficiaries to deploy the funds judiciously, especially towards pressing family needs and other areas that could ease the burden arising from the loss of their loved ones.
Zungura stressed that the gesture reflected the commitment of the police authorities to the welfare of serving personnel and the families of officers who paid the ultimate price in the course of duty.
According to him, the administration of the Inspector-General of Police would continue to prioritise the welfare of police personnel and ensure that the dependants of fallen officers receive appropriate support.
He further assured the beneficiaries that the Osun State Police Command would continue to assist the families within its capacity.
The commissioner prayed for strength and comfort for the bereaved families, urging them to remain proud of the contributions of their deceased relatives to the security and safety of the nation.
