Late Arise TV News anchor and lawyer, Somtochukwu Maduagwu, who died after armed robbers attacked her residence in Abuja last month, has begun her final journey to be buried.

Family, colleagues, friends, and well-wishers gathered at the Corpus Christi Cathedral in D/Line, Port Harcourt, to pay their last respect during a service of songs on Wednesday evening. In a sermon, a visiting Priest, Rev. Father Eze Charles, consoled the immediate family and all those affected by Sommie’s passing in one way or another.

While noting that death is inevitable, Rev. Father Charles said it is not how long one lived on earth but how well and what impact the individual made during their life.

The priest expressed happiness that Sommie, as she was popularly called, lived a very impactful life, describing her as a good and generous young woman.

He stated, “Let the family take heart, and for everyone that is affected, take heart also. What will you be remembered for when you’re in this theater called life, because death is inevitable? Earlier, the Cathedral Administration, Corpus Christi, Rev father Martim Amadi, described the late journalist as a bright and shining light and the star of her family.

“It is unfortunate that Sommie is no lol nger with us. We commit her soul into God’s hands and pray that God console her immediate family and all who are affected by her death,” he said.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Osi Maduagwu thanked the church for the support and all those who have stood with the family since the incident occurred, saying, “As a family, we solicit your continuous prayers.”
