The Vice President of Colombia, Francia Márquez, arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, for a three-day official visit to Nigeria.

The visit is aimed at strengthening diplomatic and strategic ties between both nations while fostering collaboration in key sectors, including governance, trade, agriculture, energy, education, and security.
Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, announced in a post on X that between August 30 and September 2, 2025, Nigeria will host Ms. Márquez on an official visit to deepen diplomatic and economic cooperation.
He noted that the engagements would also enhance cooperation in trade, agriculture, education, energy, culture, and women’s empowerment, thereby opening a new chapter in South-South collaboration.
Márquez is Colombia’s first Black Vice President and has consistently identified Africa as her ancestral root.
