President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, accompanied by Vice President Kashim Shettima, on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, received a high-level delegation from the World Bank at the State House, Abuja. The delegation was led by the World Bank’s Managing Director of Operations, Anna Bjerde.
The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between Nigeria and the World Bank, with discussions centered on ongoing and future development initiatives across key sectors of the Nigerian economy. Issues relating to economic reforms, infrastructure development, poverty reduction, social investment programmes, and support for sustainable growth were part of the engagement.
President Tinubu reiterated his administration’s commitment to implementing policies aimed at economic stability, inclusive growth, and improved living standards for Nigerians. He emphasized the importance of international partnerships in supporting Nigeria’s reform agenda and addressing development challenges.
Vice President Kashim Shettima highlighted the need for continued collaboration in areas such as human capital development, job creation, healthcare, education, and climate resilience, noting the World Bank’s longstanding role in supporting Nigeria’s development priorities.
In her remarks, Anna Bjerde reaffirmed the World Bank’s commitment to deepening its partnership with Nigeria, expressing readiness to support the government’s reform efforts through technical assistance, financing, and policy advisory services.
