The Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority, Bola Oyebamiji, on Tuesday formally joined the 2026 Osun Governorship race on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
Oyebamiji, who had previously served as the Commissioner for Finance in the administrations of ex-governors Rauf Aregbesola and Adegboyega Oyetola, while announcing his intention at the APC State Secretariat in Oshogbo, said he has the competence to function as governor.
Accompanied by many supporters alongside some prominent officials in the immediate past administration of ex-governor, Oyetola, including the then Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Timothy Owoeye, the NIWA MD, while speaking with journalists after meeting members of the State Working Committee of the party, said the agitation by the West Senatorial District for the governorship ticket of APC was justifiable.
“Yes, I am from the West. For equity and justice, we are appealing to our leaders to look to that Senatorial District, so that we can balance the equation. “However, whether the West, East and Central, Bola Oyebamiji is competent to run and win election as governor,” Oyebamiji said.
On the unique qualities that make him an ideal candidate for APC in the forthcoming polls, Oyebamiji, who said he had in the last 15 years held several public office positions, added, “I have been in this government for almost 15 years. “I have worked with the highest leadership of the party. I also spent about 28 years in the private sector.
“If you look into my profile, you will know I have what it takes to run a good administration if given the opportunity.”
