Iragbiji, Osun State — The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has confirmed the resignation of former Senator Felix Kola Ogunwale, who represented Osun Central in the National Assembly from 2003 to 2007.
This disclosure was made during a special ward congress convened on Monday in Iragbiji, by the leadership of PDP Ward 01, Boripe Local Government, in response to Ogunwale’s formal notification of withdrawal from the party.
Ward Chairperson Mrs. Taibat Oladimeji, whose statement was delivered by Mr. Abayomi Adegoke, acknowledged Ogunwale’s departure but described it as a welcome development, noting that he had distanced himself from party activities for over a year.
“Our ward and local government executives have long filled the vacuum created by his absence,” Oladimeji stated. “His resignation only affirms the position we’ve operated from for months.”
She further emphasized the unity of party members, declaring, “The executives, stakeholders, and members of Ward 01 remain loyal and committed to the PDP and the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke.”
The congress, held in line with the PDP Constitution, was attended by party leaders and observers across Boripe LGA. It passed a vote of confidence in Governor Adeleke, commending his administration’s development efforts in Boripe and beyond.
Oladimeji praised Adeleke’s strides in infrastructure, healthcare, and grassroots development, crediting the synergy between the party leadership and the state government for PDP’s growing support in the region.
The Ward 01 leadership pledged continued allegiance to the PDP and its leadership, vowing to deliver electoral victories in future polls.
In his resignation letter addressed to the Osun PDP Chairman, Hon. Sunday Bisi, and Governor Adeleke, Ogunwale cited “personal growth and commitment to the welfare of his people” as reasons for his exit from the party.
The statement concluded with a renewed pledge by Ward 01 executives to uphold party unity and deepen grassroots support for the Adeleke administration.
