Four Killed as Suspected Armed Herders Attack Benue Communities

At least four people have been killed and several properties destroyed following an attack by suspected armed herders in Tombu Council Ward, Logo Local Government Area of Benue State.

The incident, which occurred on Monday, August 25, was confirmed by a community leader, Joseph Anawah. He told our correspondent on Tuesday that the attackers invaded the area around 3:00 p.m., burning down deserted settlements, including Tse Mku.

According to him, two victims, identified as Mr. Kaananfam Nyamikume of Tse Jigam village and Mr. Mson from Guma LGA, were killed on their farmlands at the outskirts of Ayilamo settlement. A local medicine seller also lost his life in the raid.

Anawah said the assault has left residents fleeing for safety while homes, farms, and other properties were reduced to ashes.

Security agencies and the Benue State government are yet to react to the incident as of the time of this report.
