Dutse, Nigeria — The Jigawa State Government has approved a N1.5 billion compensation package for individuals affected by township road construction projects across the state.
The announcement was made by Alhaji Sagir Musa Ahmed, Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports, and Culture, following a State Executive Council meeting in Dutse. He stated that the compensation, approved based on recommendations from the Ministry of Land, Housing, Urban Development, and Regional Planning, will cover affected residents in Fagam, Kila-Jugwa-Sakuwa-Gwaram, Sankara-Ringim, Bulangu-Kafin Hausa, Gandun Sarki-Hadejia, Dansure-Roni, Aujara-Jahun, and several locations within Dutse LGA.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to economic development, the Council also approved N8.2 billion as a 30% down payment for input costs under the 2025 Dry Season Rice Programme. Presented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, the initiative seeks to boost food security and empower 58,500 farmers by providing loans to cultivate 50,000 hectares of rice across 1,000 clusters statewide.
Additionally, the government endorsed a two-year extension of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Health and Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) France. The renewed agreement aims to improve maternal and neonatal healthcare by strengthening obstetric services at Jahun General Hospital, Aujara, and Miga Primary Healthcare Facilities.
The statement reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to infrastructure development, agricultural advancement, and improved healthcare services for the well-being of its citizens.
