Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, has unveiled a 54-man provisional squad for the 35th Africa Cup of Nations finals in Morocco, PUNCH Online reports.

Captain William Troost-Ekong, Victor Osimhen, Wilfred Ndidi, and Stanley Nwabali are among the headline names released across all Nigeria Football Federation platforms on Tuesday.

The announcement confirms the presence of several established internationals, including Maduka Okoye, Zaidu Sanusi, Calvin Bassey, Semi Ajayi, Frank Onyeka, Alex Iwobi, Raphael Onyedika, Ademola Lookman, Samuel Chukwueze, Simon Moses, and Chidera Ejuke.

Chelle has also widened the net to include home-based players such as Abdulrasheed Shehu, Ebenezer Harcourt, Ekeson Okorie, Chisom Orji, and Adekunle Adeleke, which reflects his intention to assess domestic talent ahead of the tournament.

A final squad of 28 will be selected in the coming days, according to the NFF.

The Super Eagles are due to open their training camp in Egypt on December 10, where they are expected to play warm-up matches before the competition begins on 21 December 21.

Nigeria have been drawn in Group C alongside Tanzania, Tunisia, and Uganda as they look to mount a strong challenge in Morocco.
