Seoul, South Korea — Renowned South Korean actor Kim Soo-hyun has firmly denied allegations suggesting he was involved in a romantic relationship with late actress Kim Sae-ron when she was a minor.
The denial came during an emotional press conference in Seoul, where the 37-year-old actor addressed the accusations, which surfaced following Kim Sae-ron’s tragic passing in February.
“I cannot accept responsibility for something that never happened,” Kim stated, responding to claims that he dated Kim Sae-ron when she was 15 and that his agency coerced her regarding financial matters.
The controversy, which emerged in March, has sparked intense debates across Korea’s entertainment landscape.
While acknowledging a past relationship with Kim Sae-ron during their adult years, Kim refuted any involvement with her as a minor.
The allegations gained traction last week after Kim Sae-ron’s family attorney released purported 2016 chat exchanges between the two, allegedly from when she was 16.
Fueling the dispute, the claims initially surfaced through a YouTube platform known for its political undertones, suggesting a six-year romance that allegedly began when Kim Sae-ron was just 15.
Kim Soo-hyun reaffirmed his innocence, urging the public to approach the matter with objectivity as he seeks to clear his name.
