Kwara governor to lead APC 137-member campaign council for FCT election ‣ Info Giant Fm 97.1

AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Kwara state governor, will lead the 137-member national campaign council of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Federal Capital Territory area council election.

In a statement on Friday, APC said Hope Uzodimma, Imo state governor, Mala Buni, Yobe state governor, and Mohammed Bago, Niger state governor, are to serve as co-chairmen for the council.

The statement said Nentawe Yilwatda, APC national chairman, inaugurated the committee at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja on Friday.

Benjamin Kalu, deputy speaker, House of representatives is to serve as secretary with Sanasi Evelyn, a chieftain of the party, as assistant secretary.

“The Council is tasked with coordinating and driving the Party’s campaign activities ahead of the FCT Area Councils Elections,” the statement added.

On February 6, the ruling party replaced Uzodimma with Bello Masari, former speaker of the House of Representatives, as chairman of its national convention central coordination committee.

Surajudeen Basiru, national secretary of the APC, in a statement, said the decision was made after further consultation with the leadership and national stakeholders of the party.

He added that sub-committees of the central coordination committee will be constituted and announced in due course.

Uzodimma, who was earlier named as the chairman of the committee, will now serve as the treasurer following the reconstitution approved by the party leadership.

The APC also expanded the membership of the committee from 73 to 90, bringing in additional party chieftains, including Barry Mpigi, senator representing Rivers south-east.
