The Lagos State Government has revealed that 8,692 cases of domestic and sexual violence were reported between August 2024 and July 2025, with domestic violence (3,685 cases) topping the list.
Between August 2024 and July 2025, Lagos State documented 8,692 cases of domestic and sexual violence, with domestic violence alone accounting for 3,685 cases.
Attorney General Lawal Pedro, SAN, said the state secured over 140 convictions, provided counselling for 3,090 children, and offered survivors free legal, medical, and shelter support.
He noted that the most affected areas were Alimosho, Eti-Osa, Ikorodu, Kosofe, and Oshodi-Isolo.
September has been dedicated to Domestic and Sexual Violence Awareness Month, featuring advocacy walks, market sensitisation, Survivor’s Day, and awards recognising champions of the fight against SGBV.
