Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has officially renamed The Polytechnic Ibadan to Omololu Olunloyo Polytechnic, Ibadan, in honor of the institution’s pioneer rector and former Governor of the old Oyo State, Dr. Victor Omololu Olunloyo.
The announcement was made during a commendation service held at Obafemi Awolowo Stadium in Ibadan in honor of the late mathematician and statesman.
Governor Makinde described Dr. Olunloyo as a visionary leader whose contributions to education and public service left an enduring legacy in Oyo State and beyond. Dr. Olunloyo’s private library as a way to preserve his intellectual legacy for future generations. Dr. Olunloyo served as governor of the old Oyo State in 1983 during Nigeria’s Second Republic.
Beyond politics, he was widely regarded for his brilliance in mathematics and his dedication to public service.
