Makinde Rules Out Defection, Reaffirms Commitment to PDP

1 min read

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has dismissed speculation that he may defect from the Peoples Democratic Party, insisting he remains committed to the opposition party despite its ongoing leadership crisis. He said he would continue to “paddle his canoe” within the PDP and has no intention of joining the ruling All Progressives Congress.

Makinde made the declaration on Wednesday in Abuja during the public presentation of a book titled “Headlines and Soundbites: Media Moments that Defined an Administration,” authored by former Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed. Speaking before a gathering of dignitaries from across the political spectrum, the governor ruled out following other PDP governors who have defected to the APC.

The governor stressed that Nigeria’s development depends on sincere collaboration among leaders, regardless of party affiliation. He noted that constructive engagement across political divides remains essential to moving the country forward.
