The Nigerian Senate has debunked recent media reports suggesting a clash between Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele.
In an official statement released by the Senate’s spokesperson, Senator Yemi Adaramodu, the claims were described as completely false and misleading. He clarified that the supposed disagreement during a recent executive session was merely a routine parliamentary debate—nothing unusual or personal.
According to Adaramodu, healthy and robust discussions are a core part of the Senate’s legislative process. He emphasized that such debates are normal in democracies around the world and shouldn’t be mistaken for internal conflict.
He also reassured Nigerians that the Senate remains united and focused on national issues, stressing that deliberations—whether in plenary or committee sessions—are always in the best interest of the country.
