Photo News: Ibas Calls For Peace As Rivers Holds LG Elections Today

The Rivers State Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (Rtd), has called on residents of Rivers State to conduct themselves peacefully as the state holds its local government elections today. The Voters in Rivers State are already in the queue to elect officials in the ongoing local government elections in the coastal state.

Saturday’s elections come months after the Supreme Court nullified earlier  LG polls in the oil-rich state.

The exercise is being held in the 23 local government areas of Rivers State, and according to the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), all materials have been distributed.

There is also a restriction on movement from 6 am to 6 pm on Saturday. The exercise has already commenced in most parts of the state, but there is a low turnout of voters in several areas.
