The Adamawa State Police Command has beefed up security ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s visit on Monday to commission some major projects executed by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri.

In a press statement issued on Saturday by the spokesman of the command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, he stated that the security arrangement is to ensure that there is no breach of security during and after the president’s visit to Adamawa State.

“The Adamawa State Police Command has indeed been placed on high alert ahead of the president’s visit and has deployed its manpower and operational assets to all nooks and crannies of the state,” the statement said.

He said that the Commissioner of Police, Dankwambo Morris, has convened a strategic meeting with security commanders and senior officers of the command to review and strengthen existing security measures in the state.

Nguroje disclosed that the CP has ordered the deployment of operational assets, including the Police Mobile Force, Counter Terrorism Unit, Surveillance Squad, Crowd and Traffic Control Unit, among others.

He said that the teams are expected to carry out covert surveillance operations in the state.

“In an effort to sustain public order, public safety and peace in the state before, during and after the visit, personnel have been deployed to identify flashpoints in Yola South and Yola North Local Government Areas,” the statement added.

Nguroje pointed out that the Adamawa Police Command is working closely with other security agencies to ensure a hitch-free visit. The statement said measures taken include: “Enhanced surveillance, covert surveillance and confidence-building patrols are being carried out.

“Traffic management: Restriction of vehicular movement in certain areas until after the commissioning and flag-off. “Public safety: Anti-bomb squads have been deployed to sweep event venues and roads leading to the venues.”

The command urged residents to cooperate with security agents deployed and report any suspicious activities in their neighbourhoods to the nearest police station.
