Prince Gideon Oyeyemi Adebayo Named Olumoro-Elect of Moro

In Moro, within the Ife North West Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Osun State, Prince Gideon Oyeyemi Adebayo has been elected as the new Olumoro of Moro.

According to sources, the newly elected monarch hails from the Arowoeledejoye Compound in Moro. Prince Adebayo secured three votes to win the position, defeating fellow candidates Prince Olasunboye Oyetunde, also from Arowoeledejoye Compound, and Adetoro Adeyinka, who each received one vote. Additional contenders for the royal title included Prince Olaoye Oyedele Joel and Prince Ezekiel Oyewumi.

The Olumoro throne became vacant in February 2024, following the passing of the former Olumoro, Oba (Dr) Ezekiel Abidoye Oyeniyi.

The election, held on Wednesday at the Ife North West LCDA headquarters in Edunabon, took place under heightened security. Five kingmakers participated in the process, including Chief Oluyinka Olanrewaju J. (Omoloju of Moro), Chief Adeyemi Adeagbo (Molaage of Moro), Chief James Salako (Asalu of Moro), Apostle Eegunyemi J. Idowu (Baale Arowosile Joye), and Pa Jacob Oyebanji Aderibigbe (Baale Arowoeledejoye).

Announcing the result, Mr. Lawanson Taiye Yunus, Head of Local Government Administration for Ife North West LCDA, commended the people of Moro for maintaining a peaceful environment throughout the selection process.
