Serial wire thief arrested in Osun after selling ₦350k worth for ₦10k

The Osun State Amotekun Corps has arrested a 35-year-old man, Monsuru Moshood, for stealing electrical cables from an uncompleted building in Osogbo.

According to a statement issued by the Corps spokesperson, Yusuf Idowu, Moshood confessed to engaging in similar thefts for over three years. He admitted to selling stolen cables to a buyer identified as “Tini” in the Sabo area of Osogbo, revealing that he once sold cables worth more than ₦350,000 for just ₦10,000.

In a separate incident, 32-year-old Nurudeen Olawale from Ibadan was apprehended while attempting to steal money from a mosque at Ogo-Oluwa, Osogbo, during early morning prayers.

The Corps also arrested 21-year-old Oladare Yusuf from Iragbiji after he was caught stealing cocoa from a farm in Apara village. He admitted to the crime, claiming it was his first time and that he intended to sell the stolen produce.

Another suspect, 39-year-old Olamide Olowo from Okinni, was arrested for defrauding foodstuff vendors in Osogbo using fake mobile money transfers. He confessed to scamming nearly ten traders before being tracked and arrested in his hideout.

Two more suspects—Hamzat Mukaila, 45, a motorcyclist from Osogbo, and Tobi Omoranti, 30, a security guard from Ibadan—were arrested at Ita-Olokan, Osogbo, while attempting to burgle a shop. They were found in possession of a gun and a cutlass at the time of their arrest.
