Terrorists kill three police officers in Kwara

2 min read

At least three police officers have been killed and two others injured after suspected terrorists attacked a Police Mobile Force (PMF) camp in Tenebo community, Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The attack, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday, caused panic in the agrarian community as residents fled their homes following heavy gunfire. Sources said the assailants arrived in large numbers and launched a surprise attack on the PMF camp, overpowering officers on duty before killing three and injuring two others.

A resident, Suleiman Issa, described the moment of the attack. “These ugly killings happened at the early hours of 1 am, just at midnight in Tenebo village, Kaiama. “A terrible situation happened! Bandits came in large numbers and invaded the villagers. People were killed, and some were wounded,” Issa said.

“I regret to confirm that an attack on the PMF Camp occurred in the early hours of today. I will provide more accurate and detailed information shortly. Thank you,” he said.

The latest attack highlights continued insecurity in parts of the Kaiama Local Government Area, where armed groups have repeatedly targeted communities and security formations.

On April 20, suspected terrorists reportedly overran a joint security outpost in the Kemanji community, killing at least three soldiers and two vigilantes and carting away an army gun truck and other equipment.

On April 10, five members of a local forest guard unit were killed in Nuku community, with attackers also burning operational vehicles and facilities.

The violence follows an earlier February 2026 incident in Woro and Nuku communities, where over 200 people were reportedly killed and about 176 abducted, including women and children.
