IBADAN: A fatal accident that occurred at an early hour of today (Tuesday) along the Soka axis of the Ibadan-Lagos Expressway, claiming the lives of multiple commuters and leaving several others injured.

The crash, which involved four trailers, four Micra cars, and one Toyota Camry, unfolded when a trailer attempting to reverse out of an abandoned filling station was struck by another trailer coming from behind. The impact triggered a pile-up, as three additional trailers following closely collided in quick succession.

Eyewitnesses reported that the trailers ploughed into several vehicles, including four Micra taxis and a Toyota Camry. One of the Micra cars was completely crushed, killing the driver and three passengers instantly. Among the victims were a couple who had boarded the ill-fated Micra just a bus stop away at Sanyo. The wife died on the spot, while the husband, seated in the front passenger seat, survived with minor injuries.
