The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, backed by the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Minister Nyesom Wike, has slated its Presidential Expression of interest and Nomination Form for N51 million, for the 2027 elections, Daily Trust has learnt.
The amount was part of some of the key resolutions reached at the National Executive Committee, NEC, meeting of the faction held on Monday at the National Headquarters of the party in Abuja.
The PDP has been embroiled in leadership crisis since last year, a development that has led to the emergence of two factions.
While the Wike faction is led by Abdulrahman Mohammed, the other faction is under the leadership of Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, and backed by the Governors of the party. A source within the party hierarchy told our correspondent that the Presidential Expression of Interest form is N1,000,000, while the Nomination Form is N50,000,000.
The party chieftain who said the amount has been approved by the NEC on Monday, 20 April, noted that the activities for PDP primaries have already commenced and will end on the 29th of May.
Even though the Minister of the FCT, who is the National Leader of the PDP faction, has declared his intentions to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, insisted that the party will present a Presidential candidate.
