Young Woman Fakes Own Kidnap in Anambra to Extort Parents

A 23-year-old woman, Nmesoma Josephine Nwoye, has been arrested by the Anambra State Police for allegedly faking her own kidnap with the help of her boyfriend, Chibuike Ogbu (24), to extort money from her parents.

The suspects initially demanded ₦15 million but later settled for ₦3 million, which was paid into Nmesoma’s account. Police recovered ₦1.2 million from them after their arrest.

The Anambra Police Commissioner, CP Ikioye Orutugu, condemned the act as a sign of moral decay among youths and urged parents and religious leaders to instill discipline and values in young people.
