Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has presented a N891.99 billion budget proposal for the 2026 financial year to the State House of Assembly. The new estimate marks a notable increase from the N684 billion approved for 2025. The presentation took place on Monday in Ibadan and was witnessed by key traditional rulers, including the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade, and the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja.
Governor Makinde explained that the proposed budget comprises N389.34 billion for recurrent expenditure and N502.65 billion for capital spending, reflecting his administration’s continued focus on infrastructure and development projects across the state.
A breakdown of the proposal shows that infrastructure received the highest allocation at N210.02 billion, followed by education with N155.21 billion. The health sector is earmarked N70.81 billion, agriculture N19.99 billion, while other multisectoral allocations are expected to take up N435.9 billion.
