Gunfire was reported near the golf course of former U.S. President Donald Trump in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Sunday, according to a statement from his campaign team.
“President Trump is safe following gunshots in his vicinity. No further details are available at this time,” stated Steven Cheung, the campaign’s spokesperson.
The New York Post reported that two individuals exchanged gunfire outside Trump’s golf club. However, Trump was not the intended target of the incident, and no casualties were reported.
Trump was playing golf at the resort on Sunday, which is situated a short distance from his main residence at Mar-a-Lago, various media outlets confirmed.
This event occurs roughly two months after an assassination attempt in July, during which a lone gunman, Thomas Crooks, fired multiple shots at Trump during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The former President sustained a minor injury to his right ear.
Authorities are continuing to investigate Sunday’s gunfire.
