Oyo Commissioner for budget, Special Adviser resign

The Oyo State Government has recorded another wave of resignations following the departure of the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Ayobami Oluwaseun Ojo, his Special Adviser, Simeon Adegbola Oyeleke, and a member of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), Sunday Olugbenga Falana.

The three officials reportedly resigned their appointments on Monday, November 2, 2026, although the circumstances surrounding their decisions have not been officially disclosed.

Ojo communicated his resignation in a letter addressed to Governor Seyi Makinde through the Secretary to the State Government, with effect from November 2.

The former commissioner expressed appreciation to the governor for the opportunity to serve and contribute to the development of the state.

“Serving the Government and the good people of Oyo State has been a great honour that I do not take lightly,” he stated.

Similarly, Oyeleke tendered his resignation as Special Adviser on Budget and Economic Planning, also effective November 2.

In his letter, he thanked Makinde for the confidence reposed in him and the opportunity to contribute to the administration’s policies and development programmes.

He also acknowledged the governor’s leadership, support and encouragement during his time in office, while reaffirming his commitment to the peace and progress of Oyo State.

Meanwhile, Falana, a member of OYSIEC, also reportedly stepped down from his appointment shortly after the two officials in the budget and economic planning sector announced their departures.

The latest departures add to the political developments surrounding the Makinde administration, although no official explanation has been given to establish whether the resignations are connected.

As of the time of filing this report, the Oyo State Government had not issued an official statement on the circumstances behind the three resignations.
