Man collapses, dies at Ikare Junction in Ondo

An unidentified man has died after suddenly collapsing at Ikare Junction in Owo, Ondo State.

The incident reportedly occurred at the weekend, leaving passers-by shocked as the man was said to have slumped while standing and died at the scene.

A witness said those around the area were unable to determine what caused the man’s sudden collapse. 

“We can’t even say what caused the incident. We only discovered that he suddenly slumped and died,” the source said.

Confirming the incident, the Ondo State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, said detectives visited the scene after receiving information about the death.

Jimoh said the police found no visible signs of violence on the deceased and subsequently evacuated the body to the Federal Medical Centre, Owo.

He said a doctor on duty confirmed the man dead before his remains were deposited at the hospital mortuary.

The police spokesman added that efforts were underway to identify the deceased and locate his relatives, urging anyone with useful information to contact the nearest police station or the command.
